At this year’s LSFF we had the privilege once again of taking a look through the amazing programme for the Underwire Award winner, looking for the film with the most interesting representation of women on screen. It was an exceptionally tough gig this year with outstanding talent on show both infront and behind the camera. However, there can only be one winner and announced at the LSFF awards on Sunday night we were delighted to award Romola Garai’s directorial debut SCRUBBER. Beautifully shot by Underwire favourite cinematographer, Kate Reid, and with a staggeringly subtle and unnerving performance from Amanda Hale we were really impressed by this exploration of sexuality, fantasy, escape and home.

See a short expert of the film here.
