Peta won the award for Best Editor at Underwire 2010 and the award marked the start of a year of real success for ‘Skateistan’… They took the film to Sundance at the beginning of 2011, and then about 60 other festivals where it won lots of awards but Peta counts the Underwire Editing award as her most special award. She says “part of what made the award special for me is because us editors hardly ever get recognised for what is such a difficult, creative and crucial role in the film-making process.” It was a huge exposure for her and the film’s success has opened so many doors. She has a couple of other shorts doing the round of film festivals at the moment. But the big news is that she’s currently cutting a feature documentary with Skateistan director Orlando von Einsiedel.. They started pre-production on the film early this year and the project was greenlit in April. Peta says “it’s a dream project for both of us so we’re very excited!”
