Underwire are on the hunt for new shorts!
Submissions for Underwire 2014 are now open. The festival is looking for short films made by female filmmakers across the crafts in the UK for the fifth edition of the festival. Underwire showcases work by directors, writers, producers, cinematographers, editors, sound designers, composers, actors and under-25s as well as films with female protagonists at their annual festival in November.
Last year the festival screened 65 films and celebrated 69 creatives in 10 competition strands across 5 days at the Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick. The festival also saw special events including live comedy in partnership with LoCo, a BAFTA Masterclass as part of the industry programme and a series of networking drinks.
Underwire 2014 will be the fifth year of the festival and will see a continued focus on craft as well as creating opportunities for collaboration, networking and peer support. In the past five years, the festival has screened work by award winning filmmakers, BAFTA nominated shorts and shorts which have been developed into feature films. The festival has also been the starting point for various projects, becoming a place for female filmmakers to meet like-minded creatives.
All short films under 20 minutes with a female working in one of our ten competition strands are eligible to submit. We accept fiction, documentary, experimental, animation and everything else in between. The submission deadline is July 31st 2014. For more details, head here.
