Deborah is currently in post with a new short called ‘Twinkle, Twinkle’ working with the same little girls from ‘Sis’, which won the Best Cinematography award at Underwire 2010. She says “it’s a bit of a departure aesthetically for me and I’m really enjoying it”. She also spent six months in Amsterdam last year doing the Writer’s Lab at Binger Film Institute. She says “they really kick you out of your comfort zone, but in a safe environment, which is really extraordinary”. She’s now busy with feature film ‘Pin Cushion’ which is being developed through Creative England’s exciting iFeatures2 scheme. They had to pitch the projects which she says “was very scary but afterwards felt great”. The next stage was spending three days in Sheffield doing workshops and more scary pitching. They now have to submit a treatment and will find out mid September if they’re through to the next stage. At the moment it’s 16 projects but the next stage only takes 8 project so Deborah says “it’s a tense time but also fun and a great privilege”.
